Zoo Day
Last full day of the school year will be spent at Lincoln Park Zoo.
We’ve checked out the map and have an idea of what animals will be there.
We’re most excited to hunt for animals we’ve written about.
With only 13 kids going, I’m really hoping all 10 of my chaperones show up so I don’t have to have a group. That would be the best end of the year gift of all.

Can we spread out the crazy?
The last week of school is often filled with last minute stuff as well as big end of the year shindigs.
Monday was Field Day. Jump houses, relay races, popsicles.
Tuesday. Absolutely nothing.
Today was Picnic Day. Jump houses, DJ, snow cones, popsicles, popcorn, hot dogs, chips, juices.
Tomorrow. Absolutely nothing.
Why do we have to do a bunch of stuff all on the same day? With two days...

Just threw away my summer.
Five 3 hour days and one 8 hour day for Curriculum Committee.
Eight 6.5 hour days for Boot Camp.
I know I’m going to love that extra $2000+ but it’s not going to be fun.
At least I get paid..

The Fire Department is directly across the street. Way to move fellas.
My favorite was the firefighter who rode his bike over.

Anonymous asked: I would vote for the Peavy photo. He's doing pretty well this year. Alexei is too, but I like the Peavy photo better. That sounds like a great gift! My Dad and I usually go to the Father/Daughter game too.

The latest problem..
This whole construction issue has caused so much headache in the last few weeks for the district.
After a Union meeting yesterday (our contracts expire at the end of June, perfect timing), we have a whole brand new issue.
With next school year ending so early (May 13), our final payout will be within the final week of May. With the following year not starting until September 9, that means there...

Jewelry question
If you have a piece of jewelry that you think might be a real gem but aren’t really sure, can you just take it to a regular jewelry store or do you have to go to a certain kind of jeweler?
I have a ring of my Gram’s but I’m not sure if it’s a real opal or not and if it is, I want to get it sized to fit my finger but I don’t know where to go.
Anyone know of a good...

Sweet Jesus. I know the kids will love the break, but seriously, you guys are going to spend about a month just playing catch up. This is nuts.
It’s going to be terrible.
This fall won’t go well either. Our attendance/registration doesn’t even out until mid-late September....
classic-jim-face replied to your post: work and make the money. i know that it limits the amount of “you/vacation” time that you will get, but the extra money will come in handy and you can treat yo self later on. maybe take the vacation money you have saved right now to see extra sox games or sightsee in a city/town within driving distance (under 5 hours - because any more than that and the...

Whoa, why are you going back so early? Is it because you get out earlier?
Construction.
They’re building two new schools in the district. Both will be PreK-8.
They were supposed to break ground last June and never did. The schools are slated to open fall 2014. Builders and others have dropped out because of the time crunch but I guess...

Anonymous asked: Considering you already are weary of spending to much money on another vacation I would say save it and hold onto it for the next vacation you have so that it can be really great and take the extra money.

SmartBoard calendar
Does anyone do their full morning calendar routine only on the SmartBoard? I’m looking to create something, most likely with a student binder or packet to make it interactive but am unsure how to start.
Anyone know of any free files that I could use as a template? I’ll probably search a little on Smart Exchange too.

Torn.
It’s no secret I only have 6 days left of school. May 28th needs to get here already.
It’s also no secret that I’m not at all thrilled we will be going back to school on August 1st. Way uncool.
I’m torn at what to do with my summer.
Traveling is always my go to choice but with Scranton a few weeks ago, I’m not sure I want to do something else and spend too much....

Summer Reading
Going back to school August 1 is going to put a serious damper in my summer reading, but I just requested the ones I most want to read from the library so hopefully I can at least get to those.
The Tao of Martha by Jen Lancaster (I’ll probably buy this one also)
Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham
Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan
The Trouble with Flirting by Claire Lazebnik (I need her to...
