Made in China
We read Vroom, Chugga, Vroom Vroom today. Another Houghton-Mifflin winner.. The correlating worksheet the kids had to work on after was cause and effect. There was a man using a fire extinguisher on the engine, so they had to infer that a fire had just happened. Stuff like that.
One of the pictures was of a driver looking at the flat tire on his race car. I asked for suggestions of what would be the cause of a flat tire for a race car driver.
CJ: He could have rolled over a sharp rock.
Cecilia: There might have been glass on the race track.
Makieya: He could have driven over a nail or screw.
Ariana: Someone could have shot at his tire. [We ruled this one out as we didn’t think race car drivers got shot at very often. Makes me sad this was even an idea.]
Ali: It was probably made in China. [Um, what?] His tire was probably made in China. That stuff always gets broken.
We ended up drawing the nail/screw.
